CARMEN DE RAMILLA

The carmen has been entirely renovated in the traditional Andalusian style (Albaycín) so that the visitor should feel he is « in his own private paradise » during his stay in Granada.

It will take you 20 minutes to get to the Alhambra (1.5 km, about 1 mile), 5 minutes to the San Nicola mirador (300 m high) – the ideal vantage point to admire the sunsets on the Alhambra. The Carmen de Ramilla is at the heart of the busy life of bars, shops and Spanish plazas . 5 minutes away from the Sacromonte, famous for its Flamenco performances. And it twill take you less than 15 minutes to get to the cathedral with the Catholic Kings’ tombstones. Much care and love has been devoted to the garden, where you may want to have breakfast or lunch, or simply lie in deckchairs while listening to the birds’ song and the murmur of the water..

Le Carmen de Ramilla is a bracket of serenity before plunging you into the Grenadian animation and the visit of the numerous and wonderful conservation areas in the holdings of the UNESCO.

The material chosen for the floor is terracotta, as well as ‘empedrado’ (small tile, mosaïc-style surface) for the entrance or zaguán.The ceilings have so-called exposed beams : wooden framework that enhances the rooms’ space. In the duplex, you will admire a 17th-century wooden frame which we were able to keep and restore. The traditional windows, along with the inner shutters and blinds will protect you from the sun, with their original, and restored, wrought iron grids. The azulejos, typical of Andalusian house decoration, are to be found in all bathrooms, in the staircases and the entrance of the carmel. They were made in the local manufacture, Fajalauzas, which has supplied the whole of Granada with azulejos for two centuries. It is close to the carmen, so you will be able to visit it and purchase the genuine Albaycín ceramics and earthenware.
